Interesting quote regarding late deals;

Gary Neville says clubs that sign players late in a transfer window don't have their house in order. That's not far off the truth.

Of course, sometimes, finances dictate a deal has to be done late but my role, as a head of recruitment, is to ensure the house is in order. A manager has to have complete trust in my judgement.

Interesting article that. Most of his picks named in the article went on to have a decent career too.

Make no mistake, if Appleton does a decent job at Lincoln and we end up in the Championship, I can see him returning as manager. Him and Dowling seem to go back a long way.
Feels inevitable that Appleton will manage us at some point.
