I'm not really up on this story but are they truly protesting that gay people exist? I thought that it was about the appropriate
age to introduce young children to the debate on LGBT within society.

There are fairly obvious ulterior motives. They claim that they're protesting that young children shouldn't be taught about the sexual relationship of LGBT but the school has made clear there is nothing sexual about it. They obviously have something against homosexuals.

One of the leaders of the protests was interviewed by the BBC recently and said he wasn't homophobic as homosexuality doesn't exist according to the Koran, which makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.
