So Villa sold their soul to gain promotion. Maybe 'cheating' is a better way of putting it!

Well if that’s what you have to do to comply, you can count me out!
You mean their SOLE surely?

You can only sell it once, so they really have got out of jail with this.

Jammy fuckers.

What's to stop you selling the rights to twenty years of season ticket sales? Or 50 years of kit sponsorship?  With an option to buyback once you're promoted?

In truth, you've got more than one chance.
Not quite the same, but real madrid have sold their training ground more than once.

Sponsorship has to be at commercial rates.

Leeds tried to sell their future ticket income, and nearly went bust.

Yes, it would have to be at commercial rates - like the ground. However, if you sell it at commercial rates to a 'linked' company - like they have the ground, then it wouldn't be a problem. Any prospective new buyer would buy the club, the ground and the future ticket company as a package.

Leeds was to a separate entity - which is completely different.

Of course, eventually you would run out of things to sell, but selling the ground isn't anywhere near the last chance.

Frankly, the chances are that the authorities will give up way before 'the last chances' people dream up will run out.

I suspect leasing a player from a company or an agent would be the most obvious, but that's not allowed. Anyway, if you could do that, it would make the agents too powerful. Pretty soon they would be running the clubs and demanding that the managers were replaced with their own 'assets' to ensure the smooth running of their 'wheeze'.

Can't imagine that happening...
