  Whisky and marmite

Now, here is the thread to call whisky shit.  Bring it on.

I think whisky (and particularly Scotch whisky) is the one dark spirits ("spirits" is singular) that really challenges the first time drinker.  The others (brandy variants, rum) may be "strong" but probably don't have the same strong and "different" organoleptic qualities as whisky.  If you think back to when you first tried it, it probably overwhelmed you and not in a nice way. ("Smells of sick"; "made me feel nauseous" are common comments).  I found it so when I first tried it and for some time afterwards.  Like Marmite.

It was only after I had one thrust at me and expected to drink it as  guest (with lemonade) that I forced it down and had another.  And then I got curious and I was on a slippery slope.

The discussion is then about styles of whisky and maybe about adding water or mixers.  But who can say that they liked whisky first time?

Going to be a close one this...

Europe's team looks light to me. Lot's of unknowns in there. But the US have their own issues which generally revolve around them actually talking to each other, as always!

I reckon it'll be a draw.
