To the effect (if I have heard right) that the exit to the UK should be punitive to dissuade others from following the same path.

That is, the EU must prevail even over the democratic wishes of EU citizens and they must be scared into changing their minds.

I was rather depressed about the sort of country that my kids will live in based on political changes in the last few years. Now I realise that they can eat all the bent bananas they like and won't be fondled by huge crowds of Turkish men I have seen the light and am currently rejoicing.
