After combating hooligans for fifteen years and over a thousand games he is hanging up his truncheon.

Hospitalised by one of our lovely lads I believe.

Hopefully he retires having leprosy

Would that be for combatting the ancestors of the Lads Football Alliance or whatever they're called?

I'll never forget him and his cronies keeping us on a broken down train at Darlington station en route from Middlesborough.  We were within sight of the station bar (and the town) with the train indefinitely immobile yet were not allowed off. Total wankers who treated us like we were in their custody, and not the inconvenienced customers that we were.
30 years, he says he's done his bit.  I'm still working after 46 years and he wants sympathy, Twat.

What did he actually do wrong? Never understood.

I'm no lover of the Police but perhaps he and his mates had had so much shit from football fans over the years that it turned them these 'twats'. I'd have hated to do their job back in the day.
Not sure if it's a good idea to let a crowd of football fans off a train to walk along the lines etc to be honest. can imagine what would have been said if anybody had got electrocuted or run over.

Didn't let the lads misbehave I think.

The train was at the station!  They wanted a reaction to justify their continued employment.  If we had been a train load of accountants, bankers or mechanics, imagine the criticism.  But if the banker, accountant and mechanic are all just other football fans it's ok to keep them penned in.
Or there was the time at Rotherham where people were prevented from going anywhere other than the ground. No drinks, food, toilets.
Or the many times ALL Albion fans were escorted to the station, even those who have travelled by car and are parked elsewhere.
You'll do well to defend that guy to anyone who used to travel away regularly.
