Good. May mean that bookies have to start doing their job again. The idle tossers.

Ah the nasty state
Just let the market do its thing

RE: FOBTs - TTM - 05-17-2018

Never played one and won't ever do, learned my lesson when I won £200 at a football match, had to create an online account to claim and spunked the lot on a blackjack game.

I'll stick to my Cheltenham routine of betting money going in a separate pocket.

RE: FOBTs - Beano16 - 05-17-2018

I have never used one of these and hardly ever gamble, but the reduction from £100 to £2 seems extreme
given that I assume many people can use these, enjoy the play and control their spend. I realise that for
some people these machines can wreck their lives, so the limit does need to be changed.

If the spin frequency that's the issue, that £100 can go in seconds.

I've occasionally spent 20-50 on them when in the UK in between a race or something.
In moderation they are fine the problem is for some people addiction is a problem.

I never forget being in Newport once waiting for my 4 hour passport service. Given its a dive of a place I popper into a bookmakers for an hours to while away some time and a guy in there must have put in 100-200 on one of those machines. It was pretty obvious by his reaction that this was money he couldn't afford to lose but he did lose it and pretty quick. Made me feel very sad that someone could get into that kind of mess.

Yes I like a flutter once in a while but I know how much I want to spend and that's my limit, a win is a bonus

RE: FOBTs - Heath - 05-17-2018

Of course some people will just follow simiar pathways via online gambling but without a doubt there is a section of society for whom these were poisonous and destructive. They have also meant that bookmakers just use sport as a front for capturing addicts and banning genuine recreational punters. They have been allowed to become the crack dens of the high street and no amount of bleating about job losses should make that acceptable.

Once saw a bloke doing 150 a spin in London , felt sick for him.
Seen housewives with food shopping around their feet blowing any money they have .

At least they did the food shopping first.

Fixed odds gambling machines. Get about £7.50 out for every tenner you put in, what is the point?!
