Good luck putting the country back together... - Derek Hardballs - 10-07-2019

We’re all in this together, strong and stable and above all Brexit means Brexit!

It's quite clear that it isn't. You haven't got every member of this board on here tearing strips off each other and moaning the place down; it's the same few bores.

Who’d have thought folk would use a message board to express opinions eh?

The country is split by what degree is open to debate and personal experience. Social media is not an accurate reflection of your average person in the street, or for that matter football fans however there is clearly more interest in politics currently, the positions of both parties is more polarised than in the last couple of decades, hate crime has gone up, attack’s on MPs verbally and via social media has risen, lying has become legitimised even cheered by many. Those things are demonstrably true regardless of what some columnist roaming around Milton Keynes for a handful of days says. When Brexit happens (perhaps) and the effects are clear it will be probably a lot easier to say how split the country is.

Not sure why MT why you’re having personal pops at posters who have an interest in this subject beyond the average poster on here. I’m not bothered about Glastonbury or top five Bond movies etc so I’m making an active decision to not get involved anymore in those discussions rather than call them Glasto bores etc.

The whole phrase "social media" is now outdated. Much of it is not social and the word media now outmoded.

Sorry baggy1 - I shouldn't have quoted you, it wasn't really a response to you.

What I meant was if you want to find hate filled morons (in almost any subject) the first places to look are facebook and twitter.
