I know its wikipedia but if true Proth will be fuming. Fuming!

There’s s few who on here who will boycott matches I’m sure.

Proth is trying to find a graph to show how conservatism is the true home for the people’s game.

they have to come up with some excuse as to why they’re staying away - add Slav the Socialist to the list.

Pretty much happy with Slav.
Think he’ll bring a fresh energy and focus to the stale set up and will, hopefully, be backed by the owners.

I think he’ll make things interesting.

The positive is that he won’t be cheap, so I’d imagine we’ll have committed to backing him with a suitable budget which is distinctly more positive than the recent malaise around the place would suggest, however his track record is decidedly mixed at best, and I can’t help but feel the budget we’re allocating to him could have been better used with a safer pair of hands.

This is effectively our last throw of the dice without external investment and I’m surprised that such a risk adverse board, and lengthy managerial search has ended in such a wild card.

I am very much on board with this.

All I asked was we took our time, interviewed a variety of candidates and chose the guy who won through that process. We've done that, those moaning about Bilic not being a defensive coach can only complain if they didn't advocate for Smith last summer, who also can't organise a defence.

Would Bilic have been my first choice? No, that was always Hughton, but I'm happy and has my full backing, we could do with some excitement back and he wouldn't be here on peanuts and with a tiny budget. If it is true, I'm quite happy.

When you look at some of the names we have either talked to or been linked with, bar Hughton, Bilic would be my choice. About time we had a personality back in the dug out!!

Also has some history behind him that players will hopefully respect, rather than the last year where they’ve been playing for their mates!

Billic is rumored to be struggling with the budget restrictions and his early reported targets all West Ham - Byram (as RB) looks OK Broune (Mid) looks OK / but the mention of Andy Carroll doesn't inspire me at all. If he came we best get the Hydropool ready.

Open minded about the potential appointment but you can still be sceptical of a manager whose teams look disorganised throughout the team not just defensively and still rate Smith. Smith was employed to get Villa up by finding the best way to do that, the game plan was to rely on Grealish which most teams would if they had him at their disposal. Any manager who can get tinpot Walsall into the playoffs / top half of league one is a decent manager.

Anyway this potential appointment is either going to be a stroke of genius or a very turbulent ride on and off the pitch. I’m expecting the latter hoping for the former.
