I'm guessing that if it was the 50k predicted we would have heard more about it, but I am surprised we haven't had any news on it. The NHS mandate is not until April so that seems a sensible approach knowing the pressures they are under.
I believe many have just resigned and taken up other jobs. I'm not sure if it was 50k in the end. Edit: Thousands have applied for medical exemption or self certified as exempt. God knows what will happen there as tons will just be saying they're exempt to keep their job (I don't blame them).
The NHS mandate is absolute insanity, not a sensible approach! It'll harm the NHS even more and we're in a pandemic, and testing works fine. The vaccine is not very good at preventing transmission.
And as for 'home care', it looks like they have a different deadline....... Only 100,000 predicted to be lost?!

And it won't end at the nhs, or working with the vulnerable. I can't believe anyone actually thinks it will stop there given what's going on in other countries.
I'll say it again. Its mission 'creep'. We're moving towards mandated vaccines for all. Arguing over a particular job, or sector (vulnerable), or a pub or a cinema, or a sporting event, is irrelevant. Look at the big picture.
The debate should be around what is happening in Austria, because that is coming here. Anyone keeping their eye on Australia over the last few months has had warning signs too.
Lets cut the crap. Only two things will get the vax rate "towards" 100%. Complete exclusion from society, or force. Also known as total fucking fascist insanity. IMO.
I'm absolutely horrified what is going on in Austria, and I can't believe there's not more fuss about it. But actually I can, because a significant proportion of the population now have "covid tunnel vision", and would literally back ANTHING that sound remotely like it might help, even if it makes no real scientific sense. Scotland cannot provide any evidence that it has improved things. Wales said they had some evidence but failed to release it. They've both brought in covid passes, they didn't reduce cases, so their answer? Extend them! Its laughable. Europe has had a number of countries with covid passes. Look at the great nick they're in with cases. Its a joke.

The vaccine does not even prevent transmission. Even high vax rates are not "getting us out of this" pandemic. Yet some think adding another 10-15%, or however many, will work. Its laughable. Well, it would be if it wasn't bodily autonomy we were talking about.
Fines and prison in Austria for not taking a vax that doesn't prevent transmission. Fines and prison. Is this sinking in? I'm sure the answer will be "it will increase uptake". Like covid passes did. Which have made fuck all difference.
