Kes - Brian Glover the Referee who say's Bobby Charlton or was it Denis Law was in the wash?
I remember seeing him at Brierley Hill Civic wrestling as Leon Arras, he was up againt Les Kellett.

Mr. Script!

Brian Glover was very versatile for someone who seemingly shouldn't have been. He's been dead 23 years now.

Forrest Gump, Goodfellas & Phoenix Nights are great.

Leon Arras v Les Kellet was hilarious. Remember Brian Glover in American Werewolf In London as well. Our kid reckoned Glover also went as a supposedly French wrestler, Pasquale Salvo, but he could be mistaken. Can just imagine `Eee up ref, ees thumped me`.

Found this it's still funny = https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r_zPH3u65H8

I think IIRC the Royals (Burt Royal & Vic Falkner) fought Johnny Kwango and Clive Myers in a tag match - odd a Myers was a UK arm wrestling champ ATT not a wrestler.

I envy you being able to rewatch Phoenix Nights. It's a crime it's not on any of the streaming services.

Goodfellas I could never tire of watching.

Enjoyed a few Saturday nights as a nipper watching live wrestling at the Victoria Hall in the early 70s. Not sure if I ever saw Brian Glover, but deffo saw Les Kellet a few times.

Old women with bricks in their handbags and everyone chanting "Wheel 'em in."  Great fun.
