The Evening Mail is a dreadful paper now

Its website even worse 

There are less pop ups on porn hub (apparently )

When think back to days of Sandwell & Birmingham Evening Mail, Sunday Mercury & Sports Argus all great local papers

Even the Smethwick/Oldbury News Telephone (anyone old enough to remember that?)

Smethwick Telephone. It was the Oldbury News and the merged to form the doomed "Warley News Telephone". Closed in around '82 I think, but the Telephone was ace.

The Birmingham post (when it was broadsheet) was a cracking paper for sports coverage -always bought the express and star as the main evening paper although always preferred the Argus to the sporting star which I only ever bought if the argus had sold out.


The name's in the title - The Wolverhampton Express and Star.

The Birmingham Post was very good all round.

Sadly we've lost all of the quality printed news.
