Crowds starting dropping everywhere the start of the 80s. Recall being in regular 25,000 crowds and much more in the late 70s and even when we finished 4th in 81 it was barely over 20,000. By the mid 80s, even in the top div we were getting 15,000 or so. Once we went shite we started seeing some under 10,000. It happened everywhere.

We didn't travel in great numbers to West Ham at that time as you had to watch your back. The West Ham fans used to get out at the tube station where you had to change to get to Euston (Monument?). Albion fans used to stay on train, get out at the next stop and then approach Monument from the opposite direction.

HATS only took one coach to that game and that was only half full. The following week there were loads of packed coaches for the cup game at Tottenham.
