If a second referendum results in a vote for Brexit it confirms the will of the people as it was in 2016. If there is a majority for remain it still reflects the will of the people, but would demonstrate that the people have changed their mind since 2016.

Like I say I think there are problems with a second referendum, but being anti democratic and against the will of the people is not one of them.

No fan either of the second referendum and if it were to go ahead getting the question right is crucial, but knowing the gene pool we live in relatively well I think I can assume many remainers would still vote remain and many leavers would vote leave even though they have now heard how crap that deal is going to be.

That said as has already been detailed due to the demographic shift in the country a vote now on the same question - and if everyone voted the same way - would lead to remain as the winner simply because all the old fogies who wish it was 1955 and still think the British Empire exists will have passed away.

The only valid referendum now would be between which type of deal do we want, rather than a 'remain' option. I wish we would just leave with no deal and get on with it, i'm sure as a nation we could deal with the immediate issues. We have plenty of money in this wonderful country of ours, it just isn't spent efficiently!

You are Mark Francois and claim the fictional £300m off the side of Bullshit Boris’s bus!

I agree that we will most likely have less money in the immediate term but that we have the creative nous within our country to do better and bounce back and especially if we can genuinely look to create a better society and spend money efficiently. We could ditch HS2 to start with and give that money to small innovative start ups focused on selling to all our commonwealth friends plus developing economies and current trading partners. So let's leave now and suffer a little to potentially gain a lot.

Is this for real. Your view is that we invest our resources in small businesses that can sell stuff to Trinidad and Tobago. Brilliant, I hop your career as foreign minister goes well Boris
