As soon as the window is shut those three’s contracts need to become a priority.

Problem is now the ball is in agents court now - should always look to negotiate contracts when there are two years remaining. More power in clubs hands.

Only Livermore has signed a new deal since Dowling has been DOF.

This was something Ashworth was excellent at.

Think of the number of contracts Mulumbu was given during his peak

Harper has signed a new deal, and pretty sure Brunt and Morrison penned extensions too...

Very few of our squad need to sign new deals, so it’s hardly a failing on Dowling’s part. We’ve tied down the most important asset in Harper, and we did everything we could with both Rodgers and Barry.

We tied down Leko and Field amid much interest, and Berahino before that... Edwards had some question marks around attitude, Ferguson has played one game, but was considered too short by most people in the club, and O’Shea we’ve been in talks with since the summer...

The old regime definitely failed to tie youngsters down, but Dowling isn’t yet responsible for those failings... he needs to now ensure these 3,

Fair enough mon.
Where are these question marks about Edwards? Regarding attitude? First I’ve heard of this mon. Not doubting your knowledge.

I worked with a lad who goes to a fair amount of Exeter games and said there were rumours about him when he was there, and obviously it was alluded to being the reason he was bombed out at the end of the season by Shan despite being excellent at Brentford.

He’s very, very complimentary about O’Shea, although he wasn’t so positive after his first few games... apparently he was awful and in and out of the side til November when injuries meant he had an extended run and didn’t look back!
