Abdominal is a fantastic shout.

If I discount Canadians then I should also discount the Irish too.

If you specify Non-UK, then you can't include AC/DC. The Young brothers were born in Glasgow, Bon Scott was born in Perth, Scotland, Brian Johnson is a Geordie, bassist Cliff Williams is from Romford.

Anyhoo, if Canucks aren't allowed either, then that precludes Rush and Devin Townsend. So I'll go with:

Opeth
Heilung (I'm seeing these at The Roundhouse in November)
Green Carnation
Sigh
Emperor
Darkthrone

And a special mention for my Dutch mates punk band, Wet Camper.

Right then, I’m going to make it a little more difficult... All acts from countries where English is the first language are ruled out - so no UK, Ireland, USA, Canada or Australia.

Daft Punk,
Kraftwerk,
Soulwax,
The Hives,
Sigur Ros

Surprising amount of Björk on here. Shame she's not been much cop since Vespertine.

Under the ESL countries only rule:

Jain
The Hives
A-ha
Fairuz
Røyksopp

Original criteria:

Crowded House
INXS
Desmond Dekker
Confidence Man
Gregory Isaacs.
