I'm not a great believer in the honours system, but surely the whole of that '66 World Cup winning side should have been knighted rather than just a select few. 

Peters was the man who was a minute away from being our match-winner. He was noted as much for his blindside runs as for what he did on the ball. Another hero gone.

It can't be a coincidence that many of that team are. I've a mate whose Dad played up to International level, (Wales). He says the problem is absolutely rife in ex players of that vintage.

Bloody hell I am old enough to remember watching the 66 final and he was always the graceful epitome of a footballer who knew how to be in the right place at the right time.

Dementia is awful. You only know how bad it is when you have to deal with it.

I remember watching him a couple of times at The Hawthorns for Norwich when I was kid.

I didn't realise then what a privilege it was to watch a guy who scored and played in a World Cup final for England at my ground.
