I’m calling bollocks, my suspicion is that they think the film is shite and need an excuse for a few extra months of editing and reshoots.

It wouldn't surprise me if you were right. The last one was poor IMO, and this one looks like going down the same path, turning the films into a soppy soap-opera rather than stand-alone suspense thrillers.

Did you actually read ALL the article you linked?

Public health issues aside, I suspect the prospect of possibly loosing upward of £4 billion in ticket sales  May have some bearing on the decision.

Here are a few articles that reiterate that point.

I don't think ANY film has ever taken £4bn in ticket sales... it would've been lucky to get £750m, very lucky indeed (the last Bond took £690m)...Odd, as the figures are quite clear in the article. £4bn is for the Worldwide box office for all films. Of course it's all about the money, they don't care about health.

This Bond film wouldn't lose £4 billion in ticket sales if it sold no tickets, the £3.8 billion it mentions in the article is for projected ticket losses for cinema in total, of which Bond is just a part.

The last Bond film took £690M globally.

No film ever has made that amount. The record is the last Avengers film that made around £2bn.

I’d suggest JOK didn’t actually read ALL the articles he linked.

Maybe the bond villain in this film wants to release a virus to kill off a whole bunch of people and the plot is a little close to home at the moment?

Yep, I did make a mistake in my wording and the interpretation of figures. For which I have no excuse other than I was rushing to get a post away.
Doesn’t alter the basis of the argument that the delay was prompted by financial considerations (and possibly health ones) and not some spurious hypothesis about the quality of the film. The article linked made that clear.
