The last time we (officially) had over 50k at the Hawthorns

I make it 1962. 54,992 vs Spurs in the FA Cup.
(Unofficially there were said to be well over 50k when we beat Man Utd 6-3 in 1968 although the official attendance was 46k)

I was there, aged 11 and standing on the fence at the back of the Smerrick, hanging on to the barbed wire! A great game too. I recall Kevan scoring at our end with a header from miles out.

My old man took my mum to her only game in the 6-3 Utd game. He always says to me the crowd was nearer 60k than 50k.let alone the 46k official.

My old man says there were spilling over the sides and people were sat on the track next to the ground there were so many in. Best game he's been to he has said. Was 6 years before I first went.
