Yes or no ?

No, do you even understand the concept of war crimes? You really are showing yourself up today - google 'war crimes' before you answer, and after you've given your head a wobble and deleted some of those facebook groups you read come back to me with some sensible discussions.

There was (and remains) no obligation on the government to consult parliament before committing the UK forces to military action. Blair chose to seek the approval of parliament; he wasn't obliged to.

Were you against the invasion of Iraq? I was.

Doing those things now,  with partial hindsight, is IMO very unhelpful.

TJ, that is entirely consistent with my own view; and that appraisal will need to take account not only of the timing and manner of the response, but also the general level of preparedness for not just this but any national emergency. In other words scrutiny of the policies in the years leading up to this outbreak.

Evaluating whether the timing of the reaction was slower than need be - and whether that cost lives - will inevitably be subjective, and we'll no doubt all have varying views on that. I'm not impressed with Johnson (but hope he gets fully well as soon as possible) and am never likely to be; Matt Hancock has actually exceeded my expectations, although it has to be said they were set at a very low level; Sunak has so far made a more than decent fist of being the one holding a pretty shitty parcel when the music stopped.

What will interest me most is the verdict on the 10 years 2010-2019 and how the legacy of that decade impacted on the preparedness of the NHS in terms of its resources - infrastructure, equipment, and - most of all - personnel. The media will need to shine a light on those deliberations; let's see if they can behave like adults when the situation requires it.

Totally agree, especially re the last 10 years.  In the interest of balance, I don't think there is a political party in the UK that could have handled a pandemic, FWIW.

I backed our troops 100 % no matter what I thought ......others obviously didnt .I'm in the let's get it over and done with and sort the crap out later ....as ìve seen on here others would rather stir the shit stick and want accountability straight away .
